Quality pictures
Straight out of the box the pictures from this camera will disapoint. You do need to go into the menus and set some of the defaults. The ISO as standard is set far too high which produces noise on the pictures. You also need to understand what the differant options on the option dial do and which one to use. The menu does take a little work to get used to but it is worth spending a few minutes to get the best. Take a little time when you first get any camera to try all the differant settings and compare the results. After all it costs nothing and will save disapointment when you use it for real. But back to the results, well they are good so far as long as you select the right option. The flash pictures are particully good with a very even spread of light. The few outdoor ones I have taken are looking good with very natural colours and good light balance. The focus on macro is something I have not got worked out yet but there does not seem to be much problem with distortion. The quality of the camera body is not as good as my old Sony but that was a lot more money and there are not real issues. The size is handy but I am finding probelms with finding room for fingers, I guess thats a common problem now. I like the fact it has a proper battery not AA torch ones. The duel memory slot is also a good feature. Over all this is a good camera with a quality sensor. I do like the fact that there is an alternative to the pixel race and the noise that brings.117

Review for Fuji Finepix E500 Digital Camera [4MP 3xOptical] - [16mb XDCard]:
Since then, I've learnt how to use more of then non-automatic features (like taking better zooms, adjusting light and quality and taking black and white photos). The quality of close-ups is brilliant, and it takes wonderful scenery shots too. I haven't been quite so impressed with facial shots, but they're not bad.
The video quality isn't great, but if you happen to be out and see something you want to capture its quite good enough.
If you looking for good pics, but not at professional level, then this is a pretty decent camera.
If you want to see the sort of quality it gives, take a look at my blog"Words that Flow" at http//wordsthatflow.blogspot.com

easy to use
I bought a fuji finepix E500 for my son a couple of years ago, when it was one of the Which Guide's 'best buys'. Then I got myself one when I saw how easy it was to use - so easy even I could use it.Since then, I've learnt how to use more of then non-automatic features (like taking better zooms, adjusting light and quality and taking black and white photos). Fuji S7000 review.
Bought this camera about two weeks ago now from Amazon and also got a 256Mb memory card for it, just got some decent batteries today (2800mah NiMh) as alkalines are pretty useless.Got it to replace my little Samsung 800k compact which has served me well for many years but wasn't very good for prints.
Was going to go for the S5000 originally but for £70 more thought I would get this and glad I did.
Prints are excellent upto A4 from 6MP pictures, excellent zoom and macro shots and can shoot short videos too with sound.
Like the other folk say , just remember to get some good batteries and a decent size card and for £200 you wont go wrong.
Excellent piece of kit.
