Great camera for the price.

I really cannot fault this camera in any way at all.
I actually reviewed it on here before I bought it.
It takes crystal clear photos.
The pixel quality for the images taken, can be changed by accessing the easy-to-use menu.
You can select from 3 megapixels to 9 megapixels.
However, the higher the image quality, the more memory it uses up.
So it's worthwhile investing in a 512mb (or higher) SD card.
The digital zoom is also high quality, as I've had a few cameras in the past.
And when I've zoomed in to take photos, they've almost always come out blurred or grainy.
Not with this camera!

Movie recording with sound is included.
Movies are recorded in the Avi format, so you can easily watch your movies in Windows Media Player.

There is a dial on the back of the camera, which lets you access different shooting options.
They include:

1,Anti-blur mode. (cannot fault this at all)

2,Automatic mode. (automatically adjusts itself according to light levels)

3,Movie capture. (Excellent for family movies, outings etc)

4,Baby mode. (for natural skin tone capture)

5,3X digital zoom. (excellent for far away shots)

6,Red eye reduction. (Never had to use this option, as photos come out perfect)

7,Portrait mode. (Another setting for good skin tone capture)

The camera comes supplied with instructions, two AA batteries, and a cable with a USB connector, and other connectors to plug it into your tv.

There is an infrared lens on the left side of the camera.

Along with the shooting settings dial on the back.
There is also a picture/movie preview button.
A central [Menu] button with four additional buttons surrounding it.
these are the [Macro] (close shooting) button.
The [Flash setting] button.
The [countdown timer] button. (choose either two seconds or ten seconds)
And the [Image/movie delete] button.

I recommend this to anyone.
Most cameras for this price are either lacking in image quality, or functions.
But this little, chunky camera has it all!

Fuji Bag

It's a bag!

Nice supple leather, enough space to fit the camera (S9600) I also carry 3 sets of spare batteries (Uniross 2700Mh - they last for ever) extra card, mini tripod and my wallet and car keys - big set of keys at that. These all fit in the side pockets, the wallet sits under the camera.

Inside there is a shaped divider which the camera lens fits snugly into. So if you want an idea of the size of the main compartment, take an inch either side of the camera (with shaped lens hood).

Its a good camera bag for the camera, or any 35m styled digital camera.

Would I buy it again, yes, howvever, depending on where i am going I use 2 different ones. I have a bum bag for using in the city and this one for all other occasions, but then thats just my style.

Great for the pocket

I am very much into photography having purchased succesive SLR's from Pentax, Nikon and Cannon over the year. Have purchased/viewed over 20 digital cameras and always come back to Fuji, their cameras are simply outstanding. Have alraedy owned five Fuji digital cameras. Thw two I use at present are this one and the 6500. The 6500 is more like a SLr and is the camera I use for visits to the zoo (great optical zoom0 and Disney land. When I require a camera I can put in my pocket (the Beach or any occassion I do not waant a brick around my neck) this is the camera I take. Th equality is excellent and it is so portable. My 7 year-old loves to use this camera as weel, it is easy. Since writing this review have upgraded the 610 to the 920, far better definition, four times optical zoom and slighly larger LCD display. Still use the 6500, great camera.

Good value

64megs is quite adequate, although it does'nt have the capacity of the 128mg memory stick it is still god for....

Aproximatley 100 FINE, 1600 x 1200 pixels - 1.92 million
and NORMAL 1600 x 1200 pixels - 1.92 million
(USING MY FUJIFILM A204)

Which is'nt bad, and is a huge improvment to the XD card that comes with all fujifilm cameras; 16mb.

With almost 3x the capacity of the original you cant get it much cheaper that £20!

Highly recommended

I take pictures for a living and this card is the one I use most - taking hundreds of pictures every day

Never had a problem - read / write speed is good too (using either a 30D or 5D)

Fuji have always included long warranty with their cards which shows they have confidence that their quality control is very good

Even so - I'd rather have four 1GB cards than one 4GB - not putting all your eggs in one basket and all that

BEWARE!

1) The Manufacturer's Description above is for an entirely different model, NOT the S5700.
2) If you're even thinking about buying this camera, try doing a quick search on the next model up, the S5800, and you'll find that Amazon are selling it for £36 less than this one.

A quality product but little room for extras

This is a beautifully made product specifically for the S100FS. It has a black soft-textured real leather outer sporting a very discreet"FINEPIX" brushed-aluminium-effect badge. It has a leather/fabric carry-handle and full-length fabric strap with leather/fabric padded shoulder piece. The lining is a well-padded synthetic material with"Fujifilm" repeated diagonally across the whole interior. There is also an elasticated net that can hold (in mine) a large puffer brush, a loose cleaning cloth a spare battery - and not much more.

The camera fitted with a Hama handgrip is a very snug fit but, aside from the UV filter fitted to the camera lense, there is insufficient room to carry another filter. Dimensions of the case with the camera and above items in situ are approx. 190mm(W)x170mm(H)x120mm(D). The weight is negligible. For a camera of the S100FS's size, I consider the size as very compact. For me, this is a blessing and I find it very comfortable when carried for long periods. I have previously owned both a large and very heavy gadget bag for my previous SLRs', lenses, flash, filters etc., and a more modern fabric SLR (and not much else) carry bag and find the Fujifi case the most comfortable yet for country walks etc.

Should it be mentioned that it has attracted more than a few comments relating to its similarity to a designer handbag?

In summary then, a product which is uitable for those who do not intend to carry extras such as a flash gun and filters, but for those who do, I suggest something larger. Just bear in mind the trade-off with weight and ask yourself if you really want to carry all of the accessories, as they can soon become very heavy and uncomfortable.
